In 2020, I founded the South Mississauga Free Exchange (SMFX) on Facebook, a community initiative that has grown to over 5,700 members, reflecting my commitment to fostering community ties and promoting sustainability in South Mississauga. Through SMFX, I've organized community-building events like neighborhood barbecues and swap meets, enhancing camaraderie and sharing. A highlight includes the group's participation in the Compass "Walk the Walk" fundraisers with a Halloween Costumes and Decor Exchange, demonstrating our creativity and community support. Notably, the SMFX Mental Health Wellness Week, conducted online, focused on mental health awareness and provided activities to foster connections and new skills among members, emphasizing the importance of mental health and looking ahead to evolving these events into hybrid formats for enriched community interaction.
